The Umbrella Academy is an American comic book series created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. The first six-issue limited comic series, “The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite” won the 2008 Eisner Award for “Best Limited Series”. The first season of the tv series was released on Netflix on February 15, 2019 and the second season released in July 31, 2020. Series stars; Elliot Page, Aidan Gallagher, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan.

What is The Umbrella Academy About?

About The First Season

The Umbrella Academy is a group of superpowered individuals formed by Sir Reginald Hargreeves. The team is composed of seven of the forty-three children born simultaneously without explanation in 1950. Forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Only 7 of these children are adopted by billionaire industrialist and Academy founder Sir Reginald Hargreeves.

Sir Hargreeves, who prepared his children to save the world, called them numbers instead of names. But the family could not stay together for long and fell apart. Years later, they are reunited with the death of their father. It is difficult for them to stay together, but they somehow manage to overcome it and they begin to investigate the cause of their father’s death.

However, this research also leads to many disasters due to disagreements between them. They are particularly successful in bringing about the end of the world.

The first season had 10 episodes and it got an 8.0 rating out of 172K votes on IMDb.

About The Second Season

With the explosion in the first season finale, the team goes to 1960 separately. While looking for ways to return to their own time, they also build a new life for themselves. Somehow reunited, the team finds themselves involved in John Kennedy’s assassination attempt. On November 10th, 2020, the series was renewed for a third season, production scheduled to begin in February 2021. The second season had 10 episodes.


What We Know About The Sparrow Academy?

In the third season Umbrella Academy fast faced a new group called The Sparrow Academy. Just like in the first season, the Hargreeves brothers must stop the apocalypse they’ve caused. And they find themselves at The Sparrow Academy, an alternative company in an alternate universe. They see Ben as alive and he is a member of “The Sparrow Academy”.

Screenwriter Steve Blackman officially announced the start of filming at the Netflix Geeked event. The release date of the production, which stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper and David Castañeda, has not been determined exactly. However, he officially announced the names of the 3rd season episodes of the series. It will include 10 episodes. The third series is in production and is expected to be released in early spring 2022.

Colm Feore as Sir Reginald Hargreeves

He is an actor and writer, known The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) and Thor (2011). Sir Reginald Hargreeves is an explorer, eccentric billionaire, interdimensional being and the head of the Umbrella Company. He adopted seven of the forty-three children who were all born on the same day in 1989 to mothers without any previous signs of pregnancy. He intended to train the children to save the world.

Tom Hopper as Luther Hargreeves

Tom Hopper known television’s highly popular drama series including Merlin (2008) as the strongman knight Sir Percival, followed with a memorable performance in the medieval swashbuckler Northmen – A Viking Saga (2014) and drama series Black Sails (2014). Without losing any demand for his 6’5″, musculature presence, HBO’s medieval fantasy drama series Game of Thrones (2011) recruited him for its eighth season to portray the swordsman-hunter Dickon Tarly. Luther was Hargreeves’ Number One and the leader of The Umbrella Academy. He possesses superhuman strength and durability.

David Castañeda as Diego Hargreeves

He is an actor and writer. Diego was Hargreeves’ Number Two with the power to manipulate thrown objects such as knives while in flight.

Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison Hargreeves

She is an actress, known for The Umbrella Academy (2019), A Million Little Things (2018) and Untitled Horror Movie (2021). Allison was Hargreeves’ Number Three with the ability to influence events by prefacing any statement with “I heard a rumor.” and it affects them.

Robert Sheehan as Klaus Hargreeves

Robert Sheehan is an Irish actor. Sheehan had a co-starring role in the drama film “Cherrybomb” (2009) and he started the 2010s as a series regular in the crime drama series “Love/Hate” (2010-2014). He has continued regularly appearing in theatre, film, and television roles. Called Number Four, Klaus was Hargreeves with the ability to speak to the dead. He’s usually talking to his dead brother.

Aidan Gallagher as Number 5

Aidan is #2 on IMDB’s “TOP 10 BREAKOUT STARS OF 2020” and #7 on IMDB’s “TOP 10 STARS OF 2020. He is an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitar & piano player. Number Five has the ability to time travel and ended up trapped in the future as an old boy, where he discovered that the world was in ruins. He eventually returned to The Umbrella Academy years later with a message that the world was due to end in eight days. But others have a hard time believing it.

Justin H. Min as Ben Hargreeves

Justin H. Min is an actor, known for After Yang (2021) and New Amsterdam (2018). Ben, called number Six and he is a ghost talking only to Klaus.

Elliot Page as Vanya Hargreeves

Page appeared in Marion Bridge (2002), which won the award for Best Canadian First Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival. Bruce McDonald’s The Tracey Fragments (2007); An American Crime (2007), also starring Catherine Keener; and the third installation of the X-Men franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), where Page played Kitty Pryde. Called Number Seven, although Vanya doesn’t seem to have superpowers, she actually has a superpower that will end the world.
